Whether as a five-centimeter-thick slab for pedestrian areas or as an eight-to-eighteen-centimeter-thick paving system that withstands the highest traffic loads - the fine grained Umbriano concrete blocks with unchamfered edges and the appearance of sawn natural stone are popular in both private and public areas. They enhance entrance areas, sidewalks, boulevards and urban spaces – as unmistakable unique with individual grain in the stone. With its unchamfered edges, Umbriano enables surface design with a smooth and homogeneous appearance combined with a very good walkability. The CleanTop® surface protection with CF 90 facilitates the maintenance of the stone. The production process developed by Metten especially for Umbriano is unique and internationally patented. As a modern classic among paving systems, La Linia has been designing private and public paths and squares for more than two decades - and continues to inspire planners and users time and time again. With a high proportion of high-quality natural stone chippings, exposing through the fine-blasting technique on the concrete stone surface, La Linia has almost unlimited colour options - from light granite and sand beige to jura yellow or reddish porphyry brown to dark basalt anthracite. A wide range of natural stone grains allows a versatile colouring. The paving system, which is available in various sizes with chamfered or unchamfered edges, convinces with its high colourfastness and durability. The CleanTop® surface protection with Clean Factor 90 preserves the unmistakable character of the stone in the long term, prevents weathering and facilitates maintenance.

The next big step.

In this innovative stone product, the facing layer and core concrete are 100% cement-free, resulting in a CO₂ reduction of up to 63,9% per square meter (compared with cement-based paving blocks).

Surface Protection
The CleanTop® system

CleanTop® significantly reduces maintenance costs in high-traffic public areas due to its low maintenance requirements. The CleanTop system has proven itself excellently, not only in Germany and other European countries.

METTEN Stein+Design began developing this technology for the surface protection of concrete blocks more than 20 years ago.

Unlike conventional methods of subsequent sealing or impregnation, the CleanTop® system is part of the production process and is therefore integrated into the concrete block. It protects the surface as well as the facing and core concrete. CleanTop® counteracts wear and tear caused by weathering and makes stone surfaces more resistant to aging and more sustainable. Unlike conventional impregnations, no refreshing after-treatment is necessary – CleanTop® provides lasting protection.
